Celebrate Norman Rockwell’s birthday and learn about his Four Freedoms series inspired by Franklin Roosevelt’s vision for postwar America. In 2018, Hank Willis Thomas updated these paintings to reflect the circumstances of life in 21st century America. Keri Watson, an assistant professor of art history at the University of Central Florida, will present a comparison of these two takes on the Four Freedoms and discuss ways in which art participates in political discourse.
