Event Description

How does one make themselves better? This showing will explore how art helps to improve our desire to do better and be better.

Erick D. Marquez is an extraordinary artist in many media, from oils and acrylics on canvas to spray paint on the walls of New York City. Formerly known as one of the best tattoo artist in Central Florida, Erick has retired from his 10 year tattooing career to dedicate his life’s work to God. Erick now has Divine Inspiration steering his life and his art work more than ever. Taking on the world with the Word of God in one hand and a paint brush in the other, Erick hopes to inspire Divine Revelation in all who meet him and see his art work.  Born and raised in NYC, Erick is now a growing local artist in Orlando, FL. Erick’s artistic style is drawn from his many years as a graffiti writer and his former career as a tattoo artist. He has had many art shows both great and small, including a very large and successful show at Orlando’s very own CityArts Factory. He has also had is art displayed several times at the Orlando Museum of Art. He has even done a live art show for Mayor Buddy Dyer during the Art Business Institute reception held at Gallery of Avalon Island hosted by Jeffery W. Shonkwiler.

Joining Erick in this excellent exploration is Steve Barrientes Also a seeker of betterment.

Steve Barrientes is a freelance painter and mixed media artist who's artistic voice reflects his spirit of adventure which has led him to experience art in a variety of mediums. Today his creative expression is reflected in tattoo work and automotive airbrushing as well as the traditional painting in oils and acrylics.

A native Texan, living in Florida since 1990, Steve draws his inspiration from folklore, myths and archetypical stories from different countries and cultures. This inspiration is then filtered through his own personal understanding of the world and is expressed fully in his work. This process is evident in Steve's broad scope of topics and eclectic painting styles.

Steve served for a time as a Creative Painting instructor for the Center for Animal Therapies in Longwood and his work has been exhibited in several local venues in the area of Central Florida.

Also we will have live art demonstrations right outside! Provided by Bianca Roman Stumpf! Come join us!

Ericks’ paintings can be viewed at NV Art Bar  through July 15th, 2013.  The opening reception will be held on Thursday, June 20th, from 6:00-9:00 PM, as part of the Third Thursday Downtown Art Walk.  NV Art Bar is Located at 27 East Pine Street, Orlando, FL.   The public is welcome.
