Join Twelve21 Gallery for the opening of Extra-Estética, a solo exhibition featuring the work of Brooklyn-based artist, Oliviè Ponce.
Extra-Estetica launched in New York this past January as Ponce’s first solo exhibition and is now making its way to Florida for the fall - with the addition of new pieces for our space. This series of paintings represents the beauty of civilization in decay through acrylic on canvas AND layers of thick enamel on found plexiglass, allowing the viewer to look further than what is present. Though these paintings are heavily influenced by his experiences in both Mexico City and Brooklyn, they are universally identifiable as daily life in urban cities. Abstract landscapes and illusionary dreamscapes are created, depicting imagery of telephone poles, bridges and industrial elements of urban landscape while evoking feelings of romanticism.
Opening Reception - October 17th from 6p - 9p. Free and open to the public!
