Winter Park, FL – The 7th Annual Doggie Art Festival takes place Sunday, April 11, 2010 from 10AM-4PM at Park Avenue and Canton Avenue. This fun-filled dog and art event is hosted and presented each year by The Doggie Door in Winter Park and BullFish Baldwin Park . This event is free and features more than 40 pet-inspired artists, pet-related vendors, adoption organizations and live music throughout the day. Sponsor Massey Cadillac will feature several cars from its line-up including the SRX Crossover which features a pet gate for your dog, an accessory built exclusively for Cadillac. Fido is welcome at this event, but please leave your retractable leashes at home. This event will benefit the Sebastian Haul Fund - a fund created to help local greyhound organizations transport retired racing greyhounds to loving homes in other states.
An annual event, this canine art festival attracts thousands, and presents local pet-inspired artwork by many accomplished artists. There will also be caricature artists and photographers available for a seasonal photo of your pet, dog trainers to help you with doggie training challenges and many great pet-related vendors who offer holistic massage, all natural foods, pet sitting, and day care. Adoption organizations will also be on hand for those looking to adopt a homeless pet, or to support through volunteer opportunities and donations.
The Doggie Door in Winter Park and BullFish Baldwin Park host and present this event annually. Last year's event was held in Baldwin Park to a crowd of nearly 4000. This year the event will be held in Winter Park on Park Avenue at Canton Avenue directly in front of The Doggie Door.
The Doggie Door is a specialty pet boutique featuring designer beds, feeders, harnesses and collars, toys and more. BullFish Baldwin Park is a specialty store featuring gourmet foods and wines, aviation collectibles, casual clothing, environmentally friendly products and many unique gifts. Both BullFish and The Doggie Door host many events annually, which can be found on their website bullfish.net or thedoggiedoor.com.
The Sebastian Haul Fund was created in memory of Sebastian - the beloved greyhound of BullFish and The Doggie Door store owners Brian Wettstein and Jeff Brow. The purpose of the fund is to defray transportation costs of hauling greyhounds to their forever homes. Too many pets sit in adoption agencies needlessly while qualified adoptive homes may exist just out of reach. Area Greyhound organizations cannot possibly adopt all the retired racing dogs in our local community. They rely on relationships with adoption organizations across the country to help find homes through hauls. The Sebastian Haul Fund was created to assist in this purpose.
