City of Orlando Seeks Artist to Create Public Art Piece for Orlando Loch Haven Park Area

Thanks to a generous contribution by the National Endowment for the Arts’  “Our Town” grant and matching funds by Florida Hospital, the City of Orlando is seeking an artist to design and create a public art piece for the Orlando Loch Haven Park area.   The selected work will be displayed on or near the platform of Orlando’s new SunRail stop at Florida Hospital’s Health Village SunRail stop and serve as a gateway to Orlando Loch Haven Park to reflect both the area’s cultural amenities and Florida Hospital’s healing mission.

  • Now through December 12, 2014 – Entry deadline for artists to send qualifications; a select group of artists will be invited thereafter to submit a site-specific proposal, which may include a $500 stipend. Entries must be postmarked or delivered by 5:00 pm, December 12, 2014.
  • March 15, 2015 – Artwork completed and installed.

Open to all professional visual artists with public art experience that is comparable with the project’s scope and budget. A strong preference will be given to artists living in Central Florida and they are strongly encouraged to apply.

Artists should submit a professional packet containing:

  • Examples of completed works (up to 12 digital images with locations and descriptions)
  • A professional resume
  • A letter of intent with a design approach for this project.
