Thanks to a generous contribution by the National Endowment for the Arts’ “Our Town” grant and matching funds by Florida Hospital, the City of Orlando is seeking an artist to design and create a public art piece for the Orlando Loch Haven Park area. The selected work will be displayed on or near the platform of Orlando’s new SunRail stop at Florida Hospital’s Health Village SunRail stop and serve as a gateway to Orlando Loch Haven Park to reflect both the area’s cultural amenities and Florida Hospital’s healing mission.
Open to all professional visual artists with public art experience that is comparable with the project’s scope and budget. A strong preference will be given to artists living in Central Florida and they are strongly encouraged to apply.

Design firms, City of Orlando employees, selected panelists and their immediate family members are ineligible to participate. The Public Art selection panel will consist of representatives from Orlando Loch Haven Park cultural amenities, Florida Hospital, Ivanhoe Village Main Street and the City of Orlando. The City of Orlando and the selection panel reserves the right to reject any or all applications, proposals, applicants or projects and to modify or terminate the application process or the selection process for any reason and without prior notice.

Design and development considerations for the artwork include:
The public art piece will be placed at the new SunRail stop at Florida Hospital Health Village, located at 500 East Rollins Street, Orlando, FL 32803. This stop services Florida Hospital employees, patients and visitors, as well as visitors to Orlando’s Loch Haven Park and its many cultural amenities. This facility is a platform-style stop with a small open shelter. A six-story parking garage with a large available wall is adjacent to the platform.
