While I wanted to speak with you many of you individually, our SLICE network felt like the best place to share some exciting news with you all at the same time. I was recently asked to join Baker Barrios Architects, one of Orlando’s largest architectural, interior design, and planning firms. I have accepted this offer as their new Vice President of Global Marketing for Orlando, Tampa, and Atlanta.
While I will be transitioning out of my current role over the next few months, I will be taking on the new responsibility of becoming an executive board member for the Downtown Arts District, allowing me to continue to champion the place that has supported me, believed in me, and challenged me to reach my highest potential.
Recently, I’ve had an opportunity to reflect on our accomplishments over the last few years. We’ve been through some challenging times amid the daunting recession, but we have prevailed and come through it stronger and healthier than ever before. We’ve expanded our programs, grown our awareness, bolstered attendance and revitalized one of Downtown Orlando’s cornerstone gems, CityArts Factory.
It makes me proud to live in and serve a City that is dedicated to fostering growth in our Downtown core. From our local events and activities to the national stage, we have much to enjoy and look forward to as we continue to welcome new venues such as the Amway Center, the Mezz and the Abbey in the Sanctuary, and the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Centre.
Art is inspirational, transformational, enlightening, and educational. It has been for me – and I know it is for many others. This passion for art drives our organization, our staff, and our volunteers. It fuels our mission to lead, stimulate, and guide the best, most audacious and most unique artists in Orlando.
I’m eagerly looking forward to the next stage of the Art District’s development. I have been inspired by the community’s continued commitment to the arts and I extend my deepest thanks to our sponsors and every member of the Downtown Arts District family for working so hard and so creatively these past few years. And, certainly not least, I want to recognize our talented artists who truly make it all happen.
