Hi, all! I'd like to invite you to attend 3 In Motion coming up next week! You can read more and RSVP at the event listed here: http://www.orlandoslice.com/events/3-in-motion-1
Here's the deal: For the second year in a row, Yow Dance is participating in 3 In Motion, a dance event that allows the audience to enjoy three levels of dancing: high school, college and professional. Dancers from Dr. Phillips High School (DPHS) Dance Magnet Program and Valencia Dance Theatre (VDT) will share the stage with Yow Dance.
This year, Yow Dance is proud to return to the DPHS stage with several repertoire favorites, such as "Tabula Rasa" and excerpts from "Empty." The company will also be performing excerpts of two of its 2010 premieres, "Blackberry Winter" and "Gloria."
The Dr. Phillips High School Dance Magnet Program will perform "Twisted," choreographed by Kathy Follensbee; "Hearth" by Jon Lehrer; "Bushasche," a historical African piece choreographed by Pearl Primus; "The Future," by Lesley Brasseux-Rodgers; and a new ballet not yet titled by Emily Cordell. DPHS is the first high school to perform the excerpt of "Hearth."
In its 10th year of performing in 3 In Motion, VDT will showcase an excerpt from "Dream Ballet" from the musical Carousel, choreography by Agnes DeMille and restaged by VDT Artistic Director Lesley Brasseux Rodgers; "Con Brio" by Lesley Brasseux Rodgers; "Calm of the Storm" by Jeanne Marie Thomas and Angelius Collins, Valencia dance professors; "His Service, Her Honor" by Emily Cordell, and "Exaltation" by Casey Saxon. In addition, the performance will include student choreography "Walk Away" by Christine Barrerro and Shelly Mahaffey.
As part of United Arts' ArtsFest, a limited number of free tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. at www.ArtsFestFL.com. Other tickets cost $10.
