Bloomingdale’s Mall at Millenia is in the process of transforming its fitting rooms. Through a partnership with the Downtown Arts District, we are looking for talented local artists to create an eccentric and whimsy fitting room environment, through an art mural that represents Orlando’s vibrant arts community.

1. OVERVIEW

Selected artists will execute a mural in one of the Bloomingdale’s Mall at Millenia fitting rooms. Applications will be reviewed by a jury of local art representatives selected by the Downtown Arts District.

• Each artist will be assigned a Bloomingdale’s fitting room, based on each artist’s personal style.
• Fitting rooms available for murals in the following departments: Trend/ Millennial, Women contemporary, Young World / Kids, Men’s Denim and Men’s Causal.
• On average each fitting room is 200sq ft. and includes (1) large entrance wall and (3-4) individual fitting rooms.

There is no cost for submission. Artists must have experience with murals and are required to provide (up to 5) images that show their personal art style and any mural they have executed in the past.

2. ELIGIBILITY

The competition is open to all artists living or working in Central Florida. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to apply.

3. IMAGE FORMAT FOR SUBMISSIONS

Artwork is accepted via online submission using the form below. The specifications for submitted images are as follows: 72 dpi, .jpg format, no larger than 1MB each. Please name files as follows: yourname_artworkname_1.jpg, yourname_artworkname_2.jpg etc.

4. ENTRY FEE

There is no fee to apply for this mural project. 

5. DEADLINE

The final deadline for submissions is Monday, August 7th at 5:00 pm

6. NOTIFICATION

Acceptance or non-acceptance will be the week of August 7, 2017 by email.

7. STIPEND

There will be a $250 stipend provided to all selected artists.

8. PARTICIPATION TIMELINE (IF SELECTED)

• Schedule a site visit at Bloomingdale’s: Monday-Friday August 9 – 15
• After site visit, provide a draft/sketch of mural concept: Wednesday August 16
• Schedule mural execution/completion: August 17 – September 1
  • Artist will be given (2) days from 8am – 8pm to compete the project in-store

9. RECOGNITION

Artist will receive a mounted plaque that will be placed at the front of the fitting room to credit them for their work. Artists are also encouraged to tag their work with their Instragram handle for additional exposure. Bloomingdale’s will host an unveiling event during its fall campaign; September 7 – 17 to showcase each artist’s fitting room murals.  More details regarding its launch event to follow.
