The Gallery at Avalon Island presents Paper an Artifact of the Future featuring artists, Anni Christie, Christy McCutchen and Amy Selikoff from June 15th- July 14th.
Every day we touch paper. It is ancient and sacred: a well-worn prayer book. But also disposable and common place: a tissue stuck to the bottom of your shoe. Paper stacks, folds, and holds ink printed into words that tell us of a life lived long ago. As we move from Gutenberg to Zuckerberg, how we share ideas is shifting. Paper is increasingly replaced by digital. Sketchpads swapped for iPads. As we step into the future, how will we appreciate the marks of the past? The pieces in this exhibition are made up of paper that was discarded, rediscovered, and given new life as works of art. We invite you to see the creative possibilities you hold in your hand today.
The Opening Reception is in conjunction with the 3rd Thursday Gallery Hop in Downtown Orlando.
Gallery Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 11am-6pm
