April 2009 THIRD Thursday ART OPENINGS:
KIENE / QUIGLEY COMMUNITY GALLERY within CityArts Factory
OCAEA (Orange County Art Educators Association) Annual Exhibit: SHINE
The Orange County Art Educator’s Association announces its 23rd annual show featuring the work of art teaching professionals from all public school levels. Entitled “SHINE”, this year’s show features the work of around 70 art teachers working in media from paint to glass work. Whether the theme is interpreted in the reflective surface of resin or glaze, the glow of lit glasswork, or the interplay of light and surface interpreted in the painted form, Orange County’s teaching artists would like to “shed some light” on the qualifications and commitment to the arts needed to run a successful art program.
The Orange County Art Educator’s Association offers SHINE as a tribute and testament to instructor’s commitment to radiate positivity in the face of this crisis and to do all we can to continue to help Orange County arts students thrive and glow. As teachers take a turn in the spotlight, we hope to bring attention to the critical situation facing the arts in Orange County and across the nation.
Located in the Kiene-Quigley Community Gallery at CityARTS Factory at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Pine Streets, SHINE will hang from April 16th to May 9th. The opening reception on April 16th from 6:00 – 9:00 pm will feature music performances by OCPS music faculty and their students. The gallery is open from Monday through Saturday, 11:00am – 7:00 pm. Admission is free
