Originating from Miami and now residing in Orlando. Local artists Peterson Guerrier continues molding a path, which organically sprouts into its own personifications.
Peterson always had a love for art since he was child. His passion would be influenced from the Warner Brothers cartoons to surrealistic fantasy adventures like Conan the Barbarian. His dreams would turn into reality, landing him key roles in set designing for fashion shows and eventually into murals. One of these murals can still be seen in North Miami at a local business. The image remains as their main logo. All this while attending D.A.S.H., Design Architecture Senior High – one of the top schools in the U.S. Peterson was one of the pioneering students, achieving certification for entertainment technology. This program focused on Fine art painting, photography, graphics/web design, and film.
Securing a Fine Arts degree from the College of Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit, MI with a minor in graphic arts. Once finished with school he returned to Florida. Settling in Orlando and looking to make a difference in the Florida Department of Children and Family Services. On top of learning to be an air traffic controller.
Over time, Peterson recognizes a truth being born inside of him. Words that speaks so eloquently and is appropriately summed up in one of his favorite quotes: "Art is the only way of running away without leaving home."
He would find this home through a collective of artists, which make galleries out of street corners. 1 of those galleries would be found on Church St and Orange Ave in front of Urban Flats Restaurant. Now Kasa Tapas and Raw Bar. He would talk to Tr3 aka Tre Harris – 1 of 7 founding members in The B-Side Artists (In 2009 Peterson would become a member)
Being informed about Orlando's creative scene from Tr3, this would help fuel his art journey. Winning awards like best of show at the Osceola Center for the Arts, murals at Art Basel in Miami, working with children at Rock Lake Elementary, personally invited to show his art in Russia (where he would do his 1st international solo exhibit) and by the car manufacturer Mazda just to name a few. His works have been purchased by celebrities, local and non locals, business owners and more from all over.
Peterson’s fine art has a semi-abstract technique fused with an urban flare. His works take turns speaking jazz in a midnight setting, and bleeding emotions from an animalistic perspective. Both exclaim that we, in our own rite are unique instruments; each no more or less significant than the other. Like a circle of life we play harmonies so beautiful the message cannot be ignored. My goal in life has become to help evoke an emotion, a memory, or an image which reminds us all our condition is consistently mobile and in that movement we choose what colors to dab on this canvas of life – Peterson Guerrier
