Event Description

On September 22, 2012, a stretch of Central Boulevard will transform into a never-before-seen-in-Orlando race track. The date marks Urban ReThink’s First Annual Broomstick Pony Derby, a day of .131 and .262 mile races and pageantry for all ages

The race celebrates community and creativity and will raise funds, friends, and awareness for enhancing Urban ReThink’s operations and programming. Urban ReThink is part of the 501(c)(3) Urban Think! Foundation.

Ponies are being crafted under the direction of sponsor, Ibex Puppetry—puppeteers, such as  John Kennedy who worked on Sesame Street and Muppets From Space; Urban ReThink’s artist-in-residence Brendan O’Connor; artists from Universal Studios; and others, such as FDG Creative.  Participants can race with their own ponies or pick up a pony on race day.

Important Dates:

Saturday, September 15 – 10:00 am to 2:00 pm – Pony Making Workshop at Urban ReThink
