Bloomingdale’s Orlando, at Mall at Millenia, is partnering with the Downtown Arts District and CityArts Factory (www.OrlandoSlice.com) to present an in-store art exhibit in honor of Black History Month. The two featured artists who will have their original pieces on display and will also be hosting a meet and greet inside Bloomingdale’s are Everett Spruill and Rose Jefferson. The show will take place on Thursday, February 23rd from 4-7pm at Blooomingdale’s Orlando, level 2.
Through artist, Spruill’s eyes guests will be transcended to a world of African American culture, jazz music and visual art. With an eclectic blend of mixed media language of bold colors and rich surface textures and then enhanced with cryptic patterns and handwritten social commentary, these pieces of art are global, exotic and always inspiring. Rose Jefferson, a self-taught artist, paints portraits and figures in all mediums from oil to acrylic to watercolor. The magnificence of the human figure, its movement and facial expressions along with the activities of groups of people or just one person at a time are what inspire her to create her masterpieces.
This gallery exhibit, while only on-display for one evening, marks the beginning of a full season of in-store gallery installations, in which Bloomingdale’s Orlando will feature selected artists from the CityArts Factory and the Downtown Arts District.
