Opening on this month's Third Thursday, November 20th at Gallery at Avalon Island, "ATALIER 2014" features the work of two talented artists, Kathleen Brodeur and Edson Campos.
Kathleen Brodeur is a graduate of Florida State University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Visual Arts. Kathleen grew up in Connecticut and has enjoyed painting, drawing and photography for most of her life. She has participated in various art shows around the state of Florida as well s the Walt Disney Worlds Epcot Flower and Garden Show in 2004-2005. Her oil paintings are brought to life with her strong, bold use of colors and the spontaneity of the palette knife. She loves to travel and creates paintings from her own collection of photographs calling them "painted memories".
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Edson has enjoyed sketching and painting since childhood, and he has become a completely self-taught artist. He moved to the United States in 1978 and quickly established himself as an artist of the highest caliber. He has exhibited his lifelike paintings and drawings at major cities throughout the country, winning many awards and much recognition. Edson's artwork has also been published in magazines, and has been commissioned to grace the walls of all 500 rooms in the Queen Mary Hotel in Long Beach, California. Edson has participated in the acclaimed Art Expo New York, where his work was highly praised.
