April Workshop! Young Artists Group (YAG) Ages 15-21

Title: ‘On Location: Mapping Places, Memories and Ideas’

Overview of Workshop:  Members of the Young Artists Group (YAG) are invited to participate in this workshop in preparation for the third Thursday exhibit planned for May 19, 2016.  During this workshop we will explore the process of mapping as it pertains to physical locations, memories and ideas.  Workshop participants will 1) see examples of how artists have used maps in their work and 2) begin creating their own works, incorporating commercially-produced or self-made maps.

What to Bring:  Participating artists should bring their own supplies (paint, brushes, canvas, pens, pastels or other media) as well as old maps of all sorts (city maps, subway maps, theme park maps, etc) and any other printed material (photographs, notes to self, receipts, bills, certificates, notifications, form letters – anything at all!) that might represent a significant place, memory or idea. We will use these materials to make collages and other works on paper.  Hope to see you all there!
